Police Seek Teens Accused of Setting Fire to Newly Built Turf Field in Nether Providence

WALLINGFORD, PANether Providence Township Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying three teenage males allegedly responsible for vandalizing a newly constructed turf field at Gouley Park earlier this month.

According to investigators, surveillance footage shows the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 9:20 p.m. The video reportedly depicts two teens riding OneWheel electric skateboards with headlights and a third on foot entering the park on Plush Mill Road.

Police allege the group lit a fire in the center of the turf field, causing extensive damage to the recently completed facility. The suspects are seen in the footage sitting in lawn chairs around the fire before relocating to another part of the field. They left the park at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Descriptions provided by police are as follows:

  • Suspect 1: White male, wearing a gray backwards baseball cap, black T-shirt, black shorts, riding a OneWheel skateboard.
  • Suspect 2: White male, wearing a white baseball cap, blue T-shirt, white shorts, riding a OneWheel skateboard.
  • Suspect 3: White male, wearing gray shorts and a gray T-shirt.

Authorities note that the turf field was a significant investment for the township, and its destruction represents a serious loss to the community. Police Chief David M. Splain emphasized the need for residents to work together to safeguard public spaces.
