WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to a range of incidents across Wyomissing and neighboring areas on March 19, including a crash with injuries, a vehicle pursuit, and multiple public safety calls throughout the day.
According to the Wyomissing Police Department, officers assisted another agency at approximately 3:31 a.m. on Route 422 near Penn Avenue in West Reading with traffic control for a crash involving injuries. Police reported that a female was transported to Reading Hospital by EMS and a vehicle was towed from the scene.
At 9:10 a.m., police said they assisted with a vehicle pursuit near Route 422 and North Wyomissing Boulevard. According to officers, the vehicle disregarded lights and sirens, and no pursuit was initiated within the borough.
Earlier that morning, at 8:00 a.m., police reported receiving an anonymous tip regarding possible illegal activity on Woodland Road. Officers said contact was made with a renter at the location, who denied the allegations and declined assistance.
At 11:52 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of State Hill Road for a reported retail theft totaling $144. Police said the business chose to handle the matter as a civil issue.
At approximately 2:04 p.m., police were flagged down on Woodland Road regarding a couple reportedly engaged in sexual activity inside a vehicle. Officers made contact and advised the individuals to leave the area, according to police.
Police also responded to multiple 911 hang-up calls throughout the afternoon, including at 2:24 p.m. near Oley Street and Park Road North and again at 4:35 p.m. on Berkshire Boulevard. In both cases, officers reported no emergency was found.
At 3:44 p.m., officers responded to Route 422 near Route 222 for a report of a person attempting to stop traffic. Police said no individual was located upon arrival.
Members of the Berks County Human Trafficking Task Force participated in a roundtable discussion with state officials at 1:00 p.m. on Duke Street in Lancaster, according to police.
At approximately 5:06 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Penn Avenue for a vehicle lockout involving a child. Police reported the child was not in distress and the situation was resolved with assistance from the Wyomissing Fire Department.
Throughout the evening, police conducted multiple traffic stops across the borough, including along North Wyomissing Boulevard, Route 422, Route 222, Park Road North, and Penn Avenue. According to officers, violations included speeding, failure to maintain a lane, equipment issues, and registration-related offenses, resulting in warnings and citations.
At 6:45 p.m., police assisted Reading Police on Route 12 near Carbon Street with a report of a male walking along the bypass. Officers said the individual was identified as a missing person and transported to the Children’s Home of Reading.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to Old Mill Road for a report of a lost cell phone. Police said the phone was tracked to a vehicle operated by a rideshare driver, and the property was returned to its owner.
Police also responded to burglar alarm activations on Wyomissing Boulevard and Berkshire Boulevard during the evening hours, both of which were canceled by property owners, according to reports.
At 9:49 p.m., officers responded to a ramp near Route 12 for a motor vehicle crash. Police said no injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
