Police Hunt Armed Duo Behind Late-Night Robbery Spree in South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PAPhiladelphia police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred within hours of each other in late July across the city’s 3rd and 17th Police Districts.

According to investigators, the incidents all took place between 10 p.m. on July 30 and shortly after midnight on July 31, 2025, and involved victims being confronted at gunpoint by at least one armed assailant while a second suspect acted as a lookout.

The first robbery was reported at approximately 10 p.m. on the 1500 block of Catharine Street. Police say a 68-year-old man was approached by two men who told him to “give it up.” One suspect allegedly displayed a black and silver handgun before taking $60 from the victim’s pocket. Both suspects fled eastbound on Fitzwater Street. The victim was not injured.

About an hour later, at 11 p.m., a 31-year-old man riding his bicycle on the 1100 block of Ellsworth Street was allegedly blocked in the roadway by one suspect, who lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun and demanded property. A second man reportedly stood off to the side, acting as a lookout. Police say the suspects fled west on Ellsworth Street toward 12th Street after taking the victim’s backpack containing his iPhone, wallet, and $60. The backpack, phone, wallet, and credit cards were later recovered nearby, though the cash was missing.

The third incident occurred at 12:09 a.m. on July 31 on the 1100 block of South Mole Street. Police allege that a 26-year-old man was approached from behind by a male suspect who covered his mouth, ordered him to be quiet, and demanded his wallet while holding a handgun. The suspect returned the wallet after finding no cash inside and fled. No injuries were reported.
