NEW CASTLE, DE — Detectives with the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a traffic stop and earlier incident in which a vehicle allegedly fled from officers at a high rate of speed.

Authorities report that on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 3:51 p.m., members of the department’s Active Crime Trend Team attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Camaro on New Castle Avenue near Rogers Road for a traffic violation. Police allege the driver, later identified as Dayvon Malice, accelerated into the Oakmont community, driving recklessly through the neighborhood before officers lost sight of the vehicle.

On Friday, August 15, at about 7:53 p.m., detectives conducting proactive patrols say they again encountered the same white Camaro, this time parked outside a business at Christiana Mall. Officers initiated a traffic stop and detained Malice without incident. Police further allege that a loaded, concealed handgun was recovered during the encounter, and that Malice was confirmed as the driver who had fled earlier in the month.

Malice faces multiple charges, including felony counts of carrying a concealed deadly firearm and disregarding a police officer’s signal, as well as misdemeanor charges of aggressive and reckless driving. He has also been cited for traffic violations such as failure to signal, unreasonable speed, failure to stop at a stop sign, and improper passing.
