Police Arrest Two Wilmington Teens After Alleged Vehicle Theft Spree in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DE — Two Wilmington teenagers are facing multiple charges after police say they were caught attempting to break into vehicles during the early morning hours in a New Castle neighborhood.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers were dispatched just after 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, to the community of Rutledge in New Castle following reports of several suspects attempting to open car doors and force entry using tools.

When officers arrived, they located multiple suspects and pursued them on foot. Police established a perimeter, and K9 Ramza and his handler conducted a track through the neighborhood. The K9 team successfully located the suspects, who were flushed from their hiding spot and apprehended without further incident.

The individuals were identified as 19-year-old Stephan DeShields and 19-year-old Nadihr Ross-Turner, both of Wilmington. Officers said K9 Ramza also located tools allegedly discarded by the suspects during the pursuit.

Investigators linked the pair to a stolen Toyota Camry found nearby, which had been reported stolen from a residence on Staghorn Drive before officers arrived. In total, police believe the two were involved in four thefts or attempted thefts within the community.

DeShields and Ross-Turner were each charged with one felony count of theft of a motor vehicle, two felony counts of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, four felony counts of second-degree conspiracy, two misdemeanor counts of theft, and one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief. They were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of secured bail.

Authorities believe the suspects may be connected to additional vehicle thefts and are asking anyone with surveillance footage or information to contact the New Castle County Division of Police at (302) 573-2800 or the Criminal Investigations Unit at (302) 395-8110.

Police remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
