PHILADELPHIA, PA — An 18-year-old Philadelphia resident, Isaiah Smith, has been indicted on charges of possessing child pornography, as announced by U.S. Attorney David Metcalf.

The indictment alleges that Smith possessed explicit material involving prepubescent minors. Court filings further claim that these materials included videos the defendant allegedly recorded while sexually abusing two children, a six-year-old girl and a nonverbal three-year-old boy, on multiple occasions over more than a year. Authorities report the discovery of the abuse after a witness walked in on an alleged assault.

If convicted, Smith could face up to 20 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years. Additional penalties include lifetime supervised release, financial penalties, and mandatory registration as a sex offender under SORNA and Megan’s Law.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella.

All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
