BEAR, DE — A Philadelphia man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place earlier this year in a Bear shopping center parking lot, according to the Delaware State Police.

Authorities announced that 19-year-old Victor Johnson was taken into custody on August 4, 2025, by Wilmington Police in city limits. The arrest follows a months-long investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on March 2 at approximately 10:51 a.m. at the Sunset Station shopping center, located at 1835 Pulaski Highway.

According to the initial report, a man driving a Chevrolet Equinox encountered three unidentified males walking through the parking lot. A verbal confrontation ensued, during which the victim briefly exited his vehicle. As he re-entered, two of the suspects allegedly drew handguns and opened fire on the vehicle. Multiple rounds struck the car, but the driver was not physically injured. All three suspects reportedly fled on foot toward a residential area behind the shopping center.

Troopers were unable to locate the suspects during an initial search of the area, but continued investigative efforts eventually led detectives to identify Johnson as one of the alleged shooters. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

Johnson has been charged with two felonies: possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree reckless endangering. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $45,000 cash bond.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit continues to investigate and is working to identify the remaining suspects involved in the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective J. Dempsey at (302) 365-8472 or provide anonymous tips through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
