HARRISBURG, PA — A Philadelphia man has been charged with a series of offenses after allegedly gaining unauthorized access to private photos of multiple victims and posting them online, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced this week.
Tyler J. Jones, 33, was charged on Monday, July 7, with numerous crimes, including felony counts of unlawful use of a computer and unlawful duplication, as well as misdemeanor charges of invasion of privacy and unlawful dissemination.
According to investigators, Jones is accused of accessing the phones of at least five victims — either directly or by accessing their partners’ devices — to obtain nude photos. He then allegedly sent the images to himself and later posted them online without the victims’ consent.
Jones was arraigned early Tuesday morning, at which time his bail was set at $350,000. The court also ordered that he have no contact with the victims.
“This is another example of cruel and despicable behavior by a repeat offender who continues to weaponize modern technology to expose victims online,” Attorney General Sunday stated. “This criminal conduct traumatizes victims by impacting their careers, personal relationships, and almost every other aspect of their lives.”
Jones is not a stranger to similar allegations. In a previous case, he pleaded guilty to criminal use of a communication device and invasion of privacy after secretly recording college students in a bathroom and posting those videos online.
The current charges stem from an investigation that began after a referral from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. The Philadelphia Police Department assisted in gathering evidence that ultimately led to this week’s filing of charges.
Deputy Attorney General Madelyn Abry will prosecute the case.
All charges are allegations, and Tyler J. Jones is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
