HARRISBURG, PA — A Perry County jury on Friday convicted a Newport man of physically and sexually abusing four children over several decades in what prosecutors described as a campaign of cruelty marked by violence, intimidation, and sexual assault.
Andrew Allamon, 55, was found guilty after a four-day trial of multiple counts, including rape, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual assault, indecent assault of a child, and endangering the welfare of children, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday. Sentencing is scheduled for January 29.
Allamon was previously convicted in a separate case involving a fifth victim and was sentenced in April to four to eight years in state prison for unlawful touching and attempted indecent assault.
“For years, the defendant used his relationships with the victims to carry out evil, disgusting acts,” Sunday said. “This type of cruel behavior has no place in our society and I’m thankful his victims could come forward and seek justice.”
During the trial, prosecutors from the Office of Attorney General presented evidence showing that Allamon used violence and manipulation to control and terrorize his victims. He reportedly used a pocket knife during sexual assaults, beat the victims if they resisted, and forced them to endure degrading punishments. In some instances, victims were allegedly locked in dog kennels and made to eat from dog bowls as punishment.
Investigators said the abuse spanned years and involved multiple victims who were related to or otherwise known to the defendant.
Attorney General Sunday credited the victims’ courage in coming forward and the persistence of law enforcement in building a case that uncovered years of abuse.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorneys General Lauren Eichelberger and Julie Danchak.
