HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced charges against a Mifflin County man accused of possessing child sexual abuse material, marking what officials described as his third-strike offenses for crimes against children.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, 35-year-old Zachary P. Keiser of McVeytown faces felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse material and related offenses following an investigation by the agency’s Child Predator Section.
Authorities stated that Keiser was previously convicted of sexually assaulting children in 2009 and 2013, serving prison sentences in both cases. He remains a registered sex offender and has been classified as a sexually violent predator by court designation.
Attorney General Sunday said Keiser’s alleged behavior underscores an ongoing risk. “This court-deemed predator has shown with his repeated criminal acts that he is a threat to any child in a free society,” Sunday remarked. “Multiple prison sentences and strict court orders have not prompted him to reform his behavior, which remains focused on targeting and harming children.”
Officials said investigators received a tip earlier this year that led them to trace child sexual abuse material to Keiser. A search warrant was executed at his residence last week, which authorities allege produced evidence supporting the latest charges.
Keiser was recently arraigned, and bail was set at $1 million. The case will be prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Janie Swinehart.
All charges are allegations, and a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
