WYOMISSING, PA — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon as Wyomissing police responded to dozens of incidents across the borough over a two-day period, according to the Wyomissing Police Department.
Police reported that around 1:13 p.m. Friday, March 6, officers were dispatched to the area of State Hill Road and Berkshire Square after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. According to investigators, the Pennsylvania State Police crash reconstruction team was requested to assist at the scene.
Authorities did not release additional details about the pedestrian or the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police said the incident remained under investigation.
Earlier that day, police said officers responded to multiple burglar alarm activations at locations including Woodland Road, State Hill Road, Greenbriar Road, and Monroe Avenue. According to police, several of the alarms were determined to be accidental activations or false alarms after officers checked the properties and found doors secure.
Police also reported responding to a medical call shortly before 11 a.m. Friday after officers located a man lying on a sidewalk along Park Road North near Douglass Street. According to police, emergency medical services were contacted and transported the man to a hospital for evaluation.
Later in the afternoon, police said a resident reported being bitten by a loose dog in the area of Van Reed Road. Officers documented the complaint as part of an animal-related case, according to the police log.
Investigators also recorded a hit-and-run complaint involving a parked vehicle in a shopping center lot along Berkshire Boulevard. According to police, the vehicle’s owner reported the car had been struck the previous evening while unattended. Police said the suspected striking vehicle may have been a gray Toyota Tundra or similar pickup truck, but no witnesses or registration information were available.
Traffic enforcement activity also took place throughout the borough. Police reported conducting a traffic stop near Berkshire Boulevard and Ridgewood Road for an expired registration, with the driver receiving a warning. Another stop later that evening along Wyomissing Boulevard and Penn Avenue was conducted for a lighting equipment violation, police said.
During the evening hours Friday, officers conducted a DUI roving patrol across the borough. According to police, one driver stopped along Clayton Avenue near Penn Avenue during the patrol was allegedly found to be driving with a suspended license and had multiple scofflaw warrants. Police said the individual was taken into custody and transported to central processing.
Additional incidents reported Friday included a suspicious activity complaint along Reading Boulevard, a disabled vehicle along Douglass Street that was determined to have radiator smoke following an earlier crash on Route 422, and automatic fire alarm activations on Spring Street and Wyomissing Boulevard. Police said the fire alarms were determined to have been caused by equipment issues or accidental triggers.
Police activity continued into Saturday, March 7, with officers responding to several calls shortly after midnight. According to police, officers checked on a 911 hang-up along Woodland Road and found a man sleeping on a bench who said he did not require assistance.
Police also responded to a domestic dispute along Delaware Avenue early Saturday morning involving a male and female. According to investigators, items had been thrown during the dispute but no injuries were reported. Police said the male left the residence voluntarily and stayed elsewhere for the night.
Later that morning, Wyomissing officers assisted the West Reading Police Department with a disturbance involving intoxicated individuals outside an establishment along 3rd Avenue in West Reading. According to police, two people were arrested by West Reading officers in connection with that incident.
Additional calls Saturday included a welfare check involving a man walking along Route 222 near State Hill Road. Police reported the individual was transported off the highway to a safer location.
Police also assisted Spring Township officers in locating a wanted person connected to a case out of the city of Reading.
Several traffic enforcement stops were conducted Saturday, including one along Warwick Drive near Tewkesbury Drive for a stop sign violation. According to police, the driver was cited after officers determined the individual was allegedly operating a vehicle while under suspension related to a prior DUI offense.
Investigators also documented a hit-and-run report along Reading Boulevard, a reported burning odor along Berkshire Boulevard handled by local firefighters, and a non-reportable crash near Route 222 and Route 12 that police said was determined to be unfounded.
Later Saturday evening, officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash near Route 12 and Route 422. According to police, one man was transported to Reading Hospital Medical Center. Investigators reported the driver told officers he had consumed alcohol and declined chemical testing.
Police also handled several additional calls including reports of a barking dog along Park Road South, a domestic dispute along Trent Place that officers reported was resolved without injuries, and a missing person case involving an individual who had walked from a medical facility and was later returned.
Other calls included a disabled vehicle along Berkshire Boulevard, a found property case involving suspected drug paraphernalia along Penn Avenue, and multiple accidental 911 hang-up calls.
According to the police department’s activity log, officers handled 49 total incidents across the borough between Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
