Pedestrian Dies After Early Morning Crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — A 22-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Wilmington, according to city police.

Wilmington Police reported the collision occurred around 7:09 a.m. Sunday, March 8, at the intersection of 4th and Jackson streets.

According to police, officers responding to the scene found a 22-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Investigators said the victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Police reported the man later died from his injuries.

Authorities said the driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.

The Wilmington Police Department Special Operations Division Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Police said additional details will be released as the investigation continues.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
