OXFORD, PA — A local maintenance worker has been charged with felony burglary and attempted theft after surveillance footage allegedly showed him unlawfully entering a tenant’s apartment earlier this month.

According to the Oxford Police Department, officers were dispatched to the unit block of Lancaster Avenue on the morning of July 7, 2025, after a resident reported a suspected burglary. The tenant told police they had reviewed home security footage and observed a man—identified as 58-year-old Curtis Peterson of Oxford—inside their apartment on July 3 without permission.

Peterson, an employee of the property owner, reportedly has authorized access to the building for maintenance purposes. However, investigators said there was no active maintenance request or emergency at the time of the alleged entry. The footage reportedly showed Peterson entering multiple rooms and rifling through personal belongings before exiting the unit.

Authorities confirmed Peterson’s identity through PennDOT records. A felony arrest warrant was subsequently issued by the Oxford District Court.

Peterson was taken into custody at his residence on July 8 and transported for arraignment, where bail was set at $10,000 cash. He was held at Chester County Prison until bail was posted on July 10.

He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on August 5, 2025, at Oxford District Court.

Peterson faces charges of burglary of overnight accommodations and attempted theft by unlawful taking. As with all criminal cases, it is important to note that a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
