PHILADELPHIA, PA — An alleged package theft escalated into an officer-involved shooting in Philadelphia’s Feltonville neighborhood, prompting an active investigation and a public appeal for information, police said.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers were involved in a shooting following a confrontation connected to a reported package theft. Authorities said the encounter ended with the suspect fleeing the scene and evading capture in the surrounding area.

Investigators described the suspect as a light-skinned Hispanic male with a stocky build and a possible goatee. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a brown coat, black pants, and gray or light gray sneakers. Police said the individual remains at large.

Details surrounding the moments leading up to the shooting, including whether anyone was injured, were not immediately released as the investigation remains ongoing. The department’s Officer Involved Shooting Unit is handling the case.
