WILMINGTON, DE — Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday night on the 1100 block of Northeast Boulevard involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
According to Wilmington Police, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:20 p.m. on September 18 and located a 21-year-old male pedestrian who succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the striking vehicle, identified as 31-year-old Jose Ayala-Medina, was taken into custody without incident.
Ayala-Medina has been charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree, DUI, and additional traffic offenses. The investigation remains ongoing under the Wilmington Police Department Traffic Unit, and authorities said further details will be released when available.
Police emphasized that all charges are allegations, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
