WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested a 45-year-old Newark man in connection with a knifepoint robbery that occurred earlier this week in the parking lot of a Wilmington Kohl’s store.
According to investigators, the incident happened on August 20, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m. when troopers were called to the Kohl’s located at 4437 Kirkwood Highway for a report of an armed robbery.
Police say a woman was sitting in her car when an unknown male suspect allegedly opened her door, pointed a knife at her, and demanded her belongings. The victim complied, and the suspect fled in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck heading toward Kirkwood Highway. The woman was not injured.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Juan Carbajal as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On August 21, 2025, Carbajal was taken into custody and transported to Troop 6 for processing.
Carbajal has been charged with first-degree robbery and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, both felonies. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $50,000 cash bond.
Authorities emphasize that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
