BEAR, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested a New Castle man in connection with a stabbing last month at an Amazon delivery center that left a 23-year-old victim with serious injuries.
Authorities said the incident occurred on August 28, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. when troopers were dispatched to the Amazon facility on Bear Corbitt Road. Responding officers located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Troopers provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
Following investigative leads, detectives identified 35-year-old Taamir Smith as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and on September 23, members of the Delaware State Police and U.S. Marshals located Smith in the area of 24th Street in Wilmington. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2.
Smith has been charged with first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $200,000 cash bond.
The charges remain allegations. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
