PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help as they continue investigating the death of a 22-year-old woman whose remains were discovered last year in the city’s Frankford section.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:09 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, to the 4700 block of Griscom Street, where the remains of Anastasiya Stangret, a 22-year-old Caucasian woman, were found. Police said the victim had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and was in an advanced state of decomposition at the time she was located.
Investigators determined that Stangret was last seen on surveillance video several days earlier in the area of Penn and Arrott streets, also in Frankford. Police have not released additional details about her movements after that point and said they are working to establish a clearer timeline leading up to her death.
Homicide detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have seen Stangret in the days before she was found or who may have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding her death. Authorities said identifying witnesses or potential suspects remains a key focus of the investigation.
The City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this and other homicide cases.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or 215-686-3335, or reach out to Detective Bova, badge number 9228, or Detective Coulter, badge number 9208. The case reference number is DC 24-15-049080.
The investigation remains ongoing. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
