HARRISBURG, PA — A Montgomery County woman was sentenced to prison for her role in a $1.76 million Medicaid fraud scheme involving a home care agency where she served as chief executive officer, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.
Naya Campbell, of Audubon, was sentenced Monday by a Montgomery County judge to 11½ to 23 months in prison, with eligibility for work release, followed by five years of probation.
Prosecutors said Campbell previously pleaded guilty to felony counts of corrupt organizations, theft by deception, and Medicaid fraud related to false reimbursement claims submitted through ComfortZone Home Health Care LLC.
The East Norriton-based Medicaid provider was owned by Campbell’s mother, Stephanie Mobley, who also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
Authorities said Campbell must also complete 100 hours of community service and pay $1.76 million in restitution, including $350,000 due within six months of sentencing.
According to the Office of Attorney General, the fraud scheme involved submitting false claims to the Medicaid program between 2020 and 2023.
“As CEO, this defendant supervised and managed the daily operations — including the years-long scheme to defraud the Medicaid program and pad the private company’s profits,” Sunday said.
Officials said a two-year investigation by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Section and the FBI uncovered the scheme.
Prosecutors charged 20 individuals and the company in connection with the case.
Mobley and office manager Barbara Thomas also pleaded guilty, with Thomas receiving a sentence of 9 to 23 months in prison.
Authorities said 19 defendants connected to the agency have pleaded guilty, including 14 who have already been sentenced.
Five additional defendants are awaiting sentencing, while two others are awaiting trial, prosecutors said.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Benjamin McKenna.
