Police News

WYOMISSING, PA — A missing juvenile, an alleged attempted burglary, a bicycle crash with injuries, and a high-risk warrant operation outside the borough were among 24 incidents handled by the Wyomissing Police Department on January 14, 2026, reflecting a day that stretched from routine traffic enforcement to urgent public safety responses, according to the department’s daily activity report.

Shortly after midnight, officers were dispatched to Squire Court for a medical alarm without voice contact, but the call was canceled after the alarm company received a proper passcode. Around the same time, police conducted multiple traffic stops across Park Road North, Logan Avenue, and Hill Avenue for alleged violations including window tint issues, moving violations, expired registration, and driving without a license. Some drivers were warned, while others were cited, police said.

At approximately 1:13 a.m., officers responded to an automatic fire alarm at a residential complex on Cambridge Avenue. The Wyomissing Fire Department handled the call, and no injuries were reported. Several burglar alarms followed through the early morning hours on State Hill Road, Berkshire Boulevard, Farr Road, and Meadow Lane. In each case, police found doors and windows secured or confirmed accidental activations with homeowners or employees.

Police also assisted outside the borough when Berks County Emergency Response Team resources were requested at about 4:00 a.m. for a high-risk warrant service on Poplar Drive in Reading. Wyomissing officers supported the operation until it concluded several hours later.

Later in the morning, officers responded to North Wyomissing Boulevard for a reported missing juvenile. The child was located by a parent, and the incident was resolved without further action. Minutes afterward, police documented a two-vehicle, non-reportable crash on Berkshire Boulevard. Investigators said one vehicle struck another while it was proceeding through an intersection; no injuries or tows were required.

A walk-in fraud complaint was recorded late in the morning on Reading Boulevard, where officers gathered information from a complainant for follow-up investigation. Police also logged an advisory regarding a vehicle repossession on Eighth Street that required no police action.

In the afternoon, officers were dispatched to Reading Boulevard near Logan Avenue for an alleged attempted burglary. The case remained under investigation at the end of the day. A 911 open-line call on State Hill Road was checked and cleared after officers found no issues at the scene.

One of the more serious traffic incidents occurred at 6:18 p.m. at the intersection of Crossing Drive and Route 222, where a motor vehicle and a bicycle collided. Police said the bicyclist was evaluated by emergency medical services for a minor head injury, and a report was completed in coordination with PennDOT.

As evening traffic increased, officers conducted several stops on Wyomissing Boulevard near Monroe Avenue for alleged stop sign violations, issuing warnings. Later, police initiated a welfare check on Fourth Street for a report involving a suicidal male who had fled in a vehicle. A “be on the lookout” alert was issued, but officers were unable to locate the individual.

The day concluded with additional traffic enforcement, including a citation issued on Spring Street for a suspended registration and alleged driving without a license.

While several incidents involved alleged criminal activity, police emphasized that investigations remain ongoing. Any individual identified as a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
