WILMINGTON, DE — A late-night foot pursuit through a Wilmington neighborhood led to the arrest of a Philadelphia man who police allege was carrying a loaded firearm, according to authorities.

Members of the Wilmington Police Department’s Uniformed Services Division were patrolling the 1200 block of Read Street at approximately 10:44 p.m. on January 8 when they observed a man behaving in a manner they considered suspicious. As officers attempted to make contact, the individual ran from the area on foot, prompting a brief chase.

Police said the man, later identified as 23-year-old Marquan White of Philadelphia, was taken into custody a short time later without further incident. During the arrest, officers reported recovering a loaded revolver and additional ammunition that they allege were in White’s possession at the time.

Based on that encounter, White was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and resisting arrest. He was subsequently arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released pending further court proceedings.

The case remains under review by the judicial system, and all of the charges filed against White are allegations. As with any criminal matter, White is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
