Midday Gunfire Leaves Two Wounded as Police Probe Wilmington Intersection

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that erupted Monday afternoon at a city intersection, leaving two young males injured and prompting an appeal for information from the public.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 2:32 p.m. on January 26, 2026, to the area of East 23rd and North Pine streets following reports of gunfire. At the scene, officers located a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police also reported that a 16-year-old male gunshot victim arrived at a hospital on his own. Authorities said the juvenile victim was treated and listed in stable condition.

Investigators have not released details regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting, nor have they identified any suspects or possible motive. Police said the incident remains under active investigation and that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
