McDonald’s Robbery Suspect Turns Himself In — Another Still on the Run

CLAYMONT, DEDelaware State Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with a July robbery at a McDonald’s in Claymont, while a second suspect remains wanted.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on July 8, 2025, around 4:30 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 2702 Philadelphia Pike. Police reported that the suspects arranged to meet a victim inside the restaurant to purchase an item listed for sale. Before the transaction was completed, one of the suspects allegedly grabbed the victim’s bag, sparking a struggle.

During the altercation, authorities say one of the suspects reached toward his waistband and implied he had a firearm. The victim released the bag, and both suspects fled the scene on foot toward Philadelphia Pike with the victim’s property. No injuries were reported.

Detectives later identified the suspects as a 17-year-old male and 19-year-old Avery Quartlebaum, both of Claymont. Arrest warrants were obtained for each.

On August 26, 2025, the juvenile suspect surrendered to authorities at Troop 1 with a parent. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and remanded to the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families on a $7,000 secured bond. He has been charged with robbery in the second degree (felony) and conspiracy in the second degree (felony).

Quartlebaum remains wanted on identical charges. Police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911 or contact Troop 1 at (302) 761-6677. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Delaware Crime Stoppers.

Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
