PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man accused of attempting to rob a CVS store at gunpoint in the city’s Olney section late last month.
According to investigators, the alleged incident occurred on October 25, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m. at the CVS located at 6150 North 5th Street. Police say an unidentified Black male entered the store, produced a handgun, and demanded money from the register. The cashier, however, did not comply, and the suspect fled the store without obtaining any cash.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows the man running northbound along the 6000 block of North 4th Street toward Chelten Avenue after the attempted robbery. Detectives say he removed a green shirt during his flight, revealing a distinctive blue hooded sweatshirt underneath.
Authorities also noted that the same individual is considered a suspect in three similar commercial armed robbery cases from October 2024. In each instance, the suspect was allegedly seen wearing a shirt or sweatshirt layered over the same blue hoodie believed to have been worn during the recent incident.
The suspect is described as a Black male in his mid-20s, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with thick white drawstrings, black pants, and black boots.
Police emphasize that these allegations remain under active investigation, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Northwest Detective Division at 215-686-3353 or 215-686-3354. The case number is DC 25-35-085528.
