LEVITTOWN, PA — A 34-year-old man is facing multiple charges after an early-morning incident at a Wawa store located at 225 Levittown Pkwy that police say began as a retail theft and ended with a brief struggle during his arrest.

According to the Tullytown Borough Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Wawa located at 225 Levittown Parkway around 3:29 a.m. on November 2 for a report of a theft in progress. Store employees told police that a man wearing a Halloween-style mask entered the store, took several food items, and left on foot without paying.

Officers searched the area and soon located a man, later identified as Tyrell Coleman, 34, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, sitting in a wooded area near the store eating food believed to have been taken from Wawa. Police also observed a mask lying on the ground beside him.

When officers attempted to speak with Coleman, they reported that he became uncooperative, turning away and reaching into his jacket pocket despite repeated commands to stop. After a short struggle, Coleman was detained. A search of his jacket allegedly revealed an open pocketknife and a controlled substance.

Coleman was charged with resisting arrest, retail theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned the same day and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
