PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two suspects linked to a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month on South Camac Street.
On Monday, June 2, 2025, at approximately 2:39 a.m., officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 9th District responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 200 block of South Camac Street. Upon arrival, officers found 31-year-old Derwin Matthews lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Matthews was rushed to Jefferson Hospital by police but succumbed to his injuries later that evening and was pronounced deceased at 6:20 p.m.
Following an investigation by the Homicide Unit, two individuals have been identified as suspects in connection with the incident. Philadelphia police are currently searching for Tyrik Ransom, 24, whose last known address is on the 7100 block of Buist Avenue, and Nysheem Hinson-Rakley, 22, with a last known address on the 900 block of Parrish Street.
Law enforcement officials urge anyone with information on the suspects’ whereabouts to contact the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or leave an anonymous tip by calling 215-686-TIPS. All tips will remain strictly confidential.
