Man Wanted for Brutal Stabbing in Avondale; Police Issue Arrest Warrant

AVONDALE, PA — Authorities in Chester County have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of stabbing another individual multiple times during a violent encounter in Avondale Borough in July.

According to the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of East Third Street at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in response to a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from numerous stab wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Through investigation, police identified the suspect as Mario Lopez-Sanchez, a 29-year-old Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He is described as approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds.

Authorities allege that Lopez-Sanchez arrived at the residence during the evening of July 18 and assaulted the victim with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds before fleeing the scene. A warrant for his arrest was formally issued on July 20, charging him with aggravated assault and other related criminal offenses.
