PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged fraudulent voting in the 2024 federal election, according to federal authorities.
Federal prosecutors said Mahady Sacko, 50, was arrested Thursday and charged by criminal complaint with fraudulent voting.
According to investigators, Sacko allegedly voted in person in the 2024 general election for federal office despite not being a U.S. citizen. Authorities said Sacko is accused of falsely representing himself as a U.S. citizen in order to register to vote and cast a ballot.
Investigators also reported that Sacko had previously been ordered deported in 2000.
If convicted, Sacko could face a maximum possible sentence of five years in federal prison, authorities said.
Officials reported that the investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
