Man Accused of Illegal Gun Possession During Warrant Service

WEST LAWN, PA — A 30-year-old man is facing a firearms charge after police said he was found in possession of a handgun while authorities were serving a warrant.

According to Spring Township Police, officers were dispatched March 10 to the 2700 block of Houckway Drive to assist the Berks County Sheriff’s Department with a warrant service.

Police reported that upon arrival, officers were informed that while deputies were serving the warrant on Keenan Newton, he was allegedly in possession of a handgun.

Following an investigation, police said Newton was taken into custody and charged with person not to possess or use a firearm.

Authorities said the arrest occurred March 9.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
