WILMINGTON, DE — A 42-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after police said he was identified as a suspect in a robbery and burglary reported early Saturday.
According to Wilmington Police, officers with the Uniformed Services Division responded at approximately 5:09 a.m. March 28 to the 300 block of East 35th Street for a reported robbery.
Police reported that a victim told officers an unknown male allegedly entered his vehicle and removed property. According to investigators, the victim pursued the suspect, who then allegedly displayed a knife.
Through the investigation, police said Dante Penn was identified as the suspect.
Authorities reported that at approximately 9:05 a.m. the same day, officers located Penn in the 2300 block of Northeast Boulevard and took him into custody without incident.
According to police, officers recovered a folding knife and property believed to have been stolen from the earlier incident.
Police said Penn was transported to a hospital for evaluation and was formally taken into custody March 29.
Penn has been charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, third-degree burglary, and theft under $1,500, according to authorities.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $40,500 cash-only bail, police said.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
