Major Drug Bust in Wilmington Uncovers Heroin, Fentanyl, and Cash!

WILMINGTON, DE — A lengthy drug investigation in Wilmington concluded with the arrest of 42-year-old Marquis Lopez, who now faces multiple allegations of drug-related offenses.

On June 12, 2025, members of the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Drug Unit, along with the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on West 3rd Street. The warrant stemmed from a three-month investigation into Lopez, suspected of involvement in large-scale narcotics distribution.

Police reports indicate that Lopez and an adult female, along with four children, were found at the residence during the operation. Lopez was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the property led to the seizure of 171 bags containing approximately 5.13 grams of heroin/fentanyl, $5,775 in suspected drug proceeds, and various items of drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale and packaging materials.

Lopez was subsequently transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with several felonies, including possession with intent to deliver controlled substances in a Tier 3 quantity, conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $122,000 cash bond.

All charges against Lopez are considered allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Further developments on the investigation have not been disclosed.
