Lower Moreland Police Arrest Man Following Shoplifting Allegations

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A Philadelphia man was taken into custody this week after Lower Moreland Township Police responded to a call for a well-being check and discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on September 30, 2025, when officers were dispatched to 670 Welsh Road for a report of a male subject in need of assistance. Upon arrival, police encountered 36-year-old Brett Bankoff in the parking lot. Officers observed him holding a pink energy drink and a pair of black sunglasses while reportedly speaking to himself.

The caller told police that Bankoff had taken the sunglasses, the beverage, and a candy bar from a store without paying, bypassing all points of sale. During the investigation, officers learned that Bankoff was also wanted on an active shoplifting warrant issued out of Philadelphia.

Police stated that Bankoff was taken into custody without incident.

All charges are allegations, and a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
