LINWOOD, PA — A 41-year-old man has been arrested after Lower Chichester Township Police say he returned to a property he was legally ordered to avoid and allegedly made threats toward one of the residents.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, to a home on the 1100 block of Sterling Avenue for a reported domestic disturbance. Police say the suspect, identified as James T. Cain, had previously been arrested at the same address four months earlier and was under a court order to stay away from the victims and property as part of his bail conditions.
Investigators report that Cain allegedly returned to the residence the day before but left after being told to leave. On August 12, however, he allegedly came back, refused to leave, and made threats of bodily harm toward one of the victims, causing the residents to fear for their safety.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant, but locating Cain proved challenging because he was considered homeless. Police say observant neighbors alerted officers to a suspicious wooden structure in the woods behind the victim’s home, which they believed Cain had been using as a makeshift shelter.
Cain was taken into custody without incident and charged with defiant trespass, criminal trespass, harassment, and terroristic threats. Following his arrest, he was remanded to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility on 10% of $50,000 bail, pending a preliminary hearing.
Authorities emphasize that all charges are allegations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
