Loaded Gun Found After Glasgow High School Struggle Leads to Three Arrests

Arrested

NEWARK, DEDelaware State Police arrested three Glasgow High School students Wednesday morning after a reported struggle with a school resource officer led to the discovery of a loaded handgun inside a student’s backpack, according to information released by the department.

Police say the incident began on December 3 at approximately 9:19 a.m., when staff alerted the school resource officer at Glasgow High School, located at 1901 South College Avenue, that a 15-year-old, a 17-year-old, and 18-year-old Troy Alston had been overheard referencing a “trap,” a slang term often used to describe a handgun. The students were escorted to the office for further inquiry.

According to investigators, the 15-year-old fled into the hallway when approached by the SRO, prompting a struggle. During the encounter, the 17-year-old and Alston allegedly grabbed the officer in an attempt to interfere with the arrest. All three were ultimately taken into custody without additional incident. No staff or students were injured.
