DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Levittown woman who admitted to fatally shooting her husband at the Bristol Borough Wharf was sentenced Tuesday to 10 to 30 years in state prison, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Sammar Khan, 42, appeared before Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley for sentencing after pleading guilty in July to third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person.

Prosecutors said the charges stemmed from a May 30, 2023, incident in which Khan shot and killed her husband, 38-year-old Faisal Iqbal. Witnesses told investigators they heard an argument near the water’s edge, followed by gunfire. After a struggle, Iqbal was shot multiple times as he tried to flee toward the parking lot. Witnesses said Khan fired additional rounds after he collapsed, including shots to the torso and head.

When officers arrived, they found Khan at the scene with blood on her clothing and Iqbal dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

During the sentencing hearing, Chief Deputy District Attorney Kristin M. McElroy acknowledged testimony that Khan had suffered domestic abuse but argued the violence did not justify the killing. “The prosecution was not contesting the existence of domestic violence in the relationship,” McElroy told the court, while maintaining the crime was unjustifiable.

The case was investigated by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and Bristol Borough Police Department. McElroy prosecuted the case.
