Late-Night Violence Raises Questions as Wilmington Police Probe Deadly Shooting

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have opened a homicide investigation after a 45-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday night in the city’s northeast section.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on November 23, 2025, at approximately 9:02 p.m. in the area of East 23rd and Carter Streets. Responding officers located a male gunshot victim who, police say, had already succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Cleve Wright Sr., age 45.

Detectives are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and officials noted that additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
