WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that left an 18-year-old pedestrian dead late Wednesday night in the city’s west side.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 10:29 p.m. in the area of West 4th Street and North Scott Street. Responding officers located an 18-year-old male who had been struck by a vehicle.
Police said the victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle that struck him fled the scene before officers arrived.
The Wilmington Police Department’s Special Operations Division/Traffic Unit is leading the investigation. Detectives are working to identify the vehicle and driver involved and indicated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Police emphasize that this remains an open investigation, and if any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is later identified in connection with this incident, that individual will be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
