Late-Night Crashes, Theft, DUI Allegations Span PSP Avondale Patrol Area

AVONDALE, PAPennsylvania State Police at Avondale reported a series of unrelated incidents across multiple Chester County municipalities in late December and early January, ranging from vehicle crashes involving injuries and alleged traffic violations to burglary, fraud, and an arrest for suspected impaired driving, according to a compilation of incident reports released by the barracks.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on January 1, 2026, troopers investigated a crash on Newark Road (Route 896) in New London Township, just north of Oxford Road. Police said a 2023 BMW X3 driven by a 22-year-old man from Cochranville allegedly struck a horse and buggy traveling northbound. The buggy sustained disabling damage, and the horse was injured and later humanely euthanized by a Chester County veterinarian. The buggy operator suffered a back injury and was transported to Christiana Hospital. Troopers cited the BMW driver for allegedly driving at an unsafe speed and related traffic offenses.

Earlier that evening, at approximately 8:01 p.m. on January 1, troopers responded to a crash on Limestone Road in Lower Oxford Township. Police said a 24-year-old Oxford man driving a horse and buggy was struck by a 2012 GMC Terrain after the SUV allegedly failed to stay within its lane. The buggy was disabled, and the operator was transported to Christiana Hospital with injuries of unknown severity. The SUV driver, a 36-year-old woman from Oxford, was not injured and was cited for alleged traffic violations.

State police also reported an alleged burglary at a Sunoco gas station on New London Road in London Britain Township. Troopers responded at approximately 11:44 p.m. on December 31, 2025, but said the actor or actors were no longer on scene. The investigation into the commercial burglary remains ongoing.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested a 42-year-old man from Pottstown following a traffic stop at approximately 3:35 a.m. on December 31 in West Fallowfield Township. Police allege the man was driving a 2009 Mercury Milan without authorization from the registered owner. The vehicle was towed, and the man was taken into custody and transported to Chester County Prison.

Troopers also investigated a two-vehicle crash on December 22, 2025, at the intersection of Station Road and Martin Road in Highland Township. Police said a 33-year-old Edgewood woman allegedly failed to ensure the intersection was clear after stopping at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with a Ford F-100 traveling on Martin Road. Minor injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed. Multiple traffic citations were issued in connection with the crash.

Another crash was reported at approximately 5:45 p.m. on December 20, 2025, on East Baltimore Pike at Oak Drive in East Marlborough Township. Police allege one driver failed to stop at a red signal, causing a collision. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

In East Nottingham Township, troopers responded at approximately 5:29 p.m. on December 12, 2025, to a report of fraud on Cooper Lane. Police said a 73-year-old woman from Oxford reported being deceived into believing her Apple account had been hacked. Investigators allege the victim was persuaded to withdraw money from her bank account, resulting in a reported loss of $8,400. The fraud investigation remains active.
