Late-Night Confrontation: Wilmington Man Arrested After Alleged Attempted Burglary

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with an alleged attempted burglary that occurred on the city’s west side late Friday evening.

According to authorities, the incident happened on August 23, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m. when officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1700 block of North Union Street for reports of an attempted burglary.

Police say the victim told officers they confronted a man allegedly trying to break into their vehicle. During the encounter, the suspect reportedly implied that he had a firearm and made threatening statements.

A short time later, officers located a man matching the suspect’s description in the 1300 block of North Clayton Street. Police say the man, identified as Frankie Galindez, was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities have charged Galindez with the following offenses:

  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Attempted Burglary (Third Degree)
  • Menacing

Galindez was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $10,000 unsecured bail, police confirmed.

Officials emphasize that the investigation remains ongoing and remind the public that a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
