Police News

OXFORD, PA — Law enforcement officials in Oxford are investigating a hit-and-run vehicle accident that left two individuals injured on March 8, 2025. The Oxford Police Department has confirmed that a 16-year-old female has been taken into custody in connection with the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Hodgson Street and Locust Street.

According to police, officers responded to the scene after reports of a collision involving a small SUV that fled westbound on West Locust Street. Upon arrival, authorities found two injured occupants in the remaining vehicle. Both victims sustained multiple injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment by emergency medical services.

Efforts to locate the striking vehicle initially proved unsuccessful. However, while investigating, officers received information about a tow truck request in nearby Lancaster County on Kirks Mill Road. The driver of the disabled vehicle reported striking an object. When authorities arrived at that location, they were able to identify parts from the vehicle that matched debris left at the scene of the hit-and-run.

The driver, a 16-year-old female from Rising Sun, Maryland, was subsequently placed into custody. She was processed at the Oxford Police Department and later released to a family member. Though the individual is a juvenile, the police confirmed that criminal charges have been filed with Chester County Juvenile Court. The charges include “Accidents Involving Death or Injury While Not Licensed” and five additional traffic offenses.

The Oxford Police Department reminds the public that a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
