PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia homicide detectives are intensifying their search for a distinctive SUV they allege was used in a fatal shooting that rocked the city’s 15th Police District late last month.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, a navy blue Jeep Grand Cherokee, believed to be a 2014 to 2016 model, was captured on surveillance video in connection with a homicide reported at 12:17 p.m. on December 22, 2025, in the 4200 block of Torresdale Avenue. Investigators say the vehicle was last seen traveling east on the 2200 block of Adams Avenue shortly after the killing.
Police described the Jeep as having several identifying features that could make it stand out to motorists and residents. At the time of the incident, the SUV was displaying a temporary license tag, number 4351-125, issued by an unknown state. Detectives also noted that the vehicle has a broken sunroof window and a shattered rear passenger-side cabin window, damage they believe may be connected to the alleged crime.
While police have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, investigators allege the Jeep was used to facilitate or flee the scene of the homicide. The circumstances of the killing and the identity of the victim have not yet been released.
Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about its whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately. Members of the public are warned not to approach the vehicle if it is seen, but instead to call 911. Tips may also be submitted confidentially by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or by contacting the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or 215-686-3335. Detectives O’Brien and Jang are assigned to the investigation under case number DC 25-15-116894.
All individuals who may be identified as suspects or persons of interest in this investigation are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
