LINWOOD, PA — Lower Chichester Township Police are investigating a series of alleged offenses involving a 70-year-old man who officers say struck multiple vehicles before attempting to walk away from the scene while carrying a turkey.
According to police, the incident occurred on November 16, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Fronefield Avenue for a reported vehicle accident involving a possibly intoxicated driver. At the time, Lower Chichester officers were engaged in a separate arrest, and responding officers from Upper Chichester Township arrived first.
Witnesses at the scene directed officers to a vehicle facing the wrong direction down the street. Police say the operator had exited the vehicle and began walking away while holding a turkey. Despite officers issuing verbal commands for him to remain on scene, the man continued walking—even after acknowledging that the commands were directed at him.
Officers physically detained the subject as he attempted to enter a residence but reported that he pulled away, requiring additional restraint. He was identified as Robert Wells, 70. Police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. After Lower Chichester officers arrived, the investigation determined that Wells had allegedly struck at least two vehicles and that the damage to his own vehicle was consistent with the collisions.
A witness also identified Wells as the operator of the striking vehicle. Police say he failed field sobriety testing and was transported to a hospital for a blood draw to determine blood alcohol content.
Wells faces multiple charges, including resisting arrest, DUI general impairment, failure to stop and render aid, accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way.
Police stress that all charges are allegations, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
