High-Speed Flight After Welfare Check Sparks Search for Driver in North Coventry

POTTSTOWN, PA — North Coventry Township police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who allegedly fled officers at a high rate of speed after a welfare check along West Schuylkill Road.

According to the North Coventry Township Police Department, officers were called on Sunday, January 4, 2026, to the 300 block of West Schuylkill Road after a concerned citizen reported an unresponsive male seated inside a vehicle. Police said officers attempted to make contact with the driver, who remained unresponsive for a period of time inside a maroon or burgundy 2011 Lincoln MKZ bearing Pennsylvania registration plate NBN6394.

Authorities allege the male eventually awoke and abruptly sped away from officers. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued westbound on West Schuylkill Road, passing Sheep Hill Road while traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers did not immediately identify the driver, and the vehicle was not stopped.

Police described the individual as a white male believed to be in his early 30s to mid-40s, with short brown or dirty blond hair and a long brown or dirty blond beard. He was last seen wearing a white zip-up puffer jacket over a black Adidas hooded sweatshirt.

The incident occurred near 351 West Schuylkill Road in the Pottstown area. Investigators are seeking information to identify and speak with the driver as part of the ongoing investigation.
