NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Walgreens pharmacy after an unidentified suspect allegedly restrained two employees and fled with cash early Sunday morning.
Troopers were called to the store, located at 2719 Pulaski Highway, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on December 7. According to investigators, an unknown man entered the business, displayed a handgun, and confronted an employee before directing him to a rear office. A second employee was inside counting money at the time.
Police say the suspect used zip ties to restrain both workers before taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the counter and leaving the store on foot. No injuries were reported, and the employees were able to contact authorities after the suspect fled.
The individual is described as a Black male with curly black hair, wearing a black face covering and dark clothing. Troopers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate him.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Dempsey at 302-365-8472 or provide tips anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
