Gunfire Erupts at Claymont Gas Station, Suspect Flees

CLAYMONT, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a late-night shots fired incident that damaged a gas station but left no reported injuries, according to authorities.

Troopers said they responded at approximately 11:50 p.m. February 18 to the Sunoco at 3615 Philadelphia Pike for a report of gunfire.

According to police, a gray sedan arrived at the gas station and parked near a fuel pump. Investigators allege the driver exited the vehicle and entered the convenience store. A short time later, a second vehicle arrived and parked nearby, and its occupants also entered the store.

Police said that after a brief interaction between the two parties inside, the driver of the sedan ran back to his vehicle. As two individuals exited the store, an unknown suspect allegedly fired multiple handgun rounds from the sedan toward them.

Authorities reported that all involved parties fled the scene before troopers arrived. No injuries were reported, but the store sustained damage from the gunfire, according to police.

The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate.
