WILMINGTON, DE — A 45-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday evening after police say he was wanted on an outstanding warrant and found in possession of a firearm and controlled substances.
According to Wilmington Police, members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted an investigation around 6:48 p.m. in the 200 block of Delamore Place related to Kareem Bell, who was wanted on a warrant issued by the department.
Police reported that officers executed a search warrant at the location and took Bell into custody without incident.
Authorities said officers recovered a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, 91 shotgun rounds, additional ammunition, approximately 8.2 grams of crack cocaine, and a box cutter during the investigation.
According to police, Bell has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and possession of a controlled substance. Police said these charges are in addition to his outstanding warrant.
Court records show Bell was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $79,000 cash-only bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
