WILMINGTON, DE — A reported shots-fired call in a north Wilmington neighborhood led police to a vehicle stop and the arrest of a 30-year-old man now facing multiple gun-related charges, authorities said.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers with the Uniformed Services Division were dispatched at approximately 5:06 p.m. on January 14 to the area of East 11th and North Spruce streets following a report of shots fired. Responding officers gathered a description of a possible suspect and the vehicle believed to be connected to the incident.

A short time later, members of the Safe Streets Task Force located a vehicle matching that description in the 900 block of Vandever Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. Police said officers made contact with Daiquan Reams, 30, and took him into custody without incident.

Following the stop, investigators executed a search warrant on the vehicle. Police allege they recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition, and clothing consistent with the description provided in the earlier shots-fired report.

Authorities said the shots-fired incident remains under active investigation, and additional charges have not been ruled out.

Reams was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and one count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after bail was set at $50,000 cash-only.
