Fulton County Man Convicted of Strangling Girlfriend in Domestic Dispute

Court News

HARRISBURG, PA — A Fulton County jury has found a McConnellsburg man guilty of felony strangulation for assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic altercation witnessed by their two young children, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.

Nicholas Hendershot, 24, was convicted Wednesday following a brief jury deliberation. The charges stem from a 2023 incident in which Hendershot reportedly installed a surveillance camera to monitor his girlfriend while he was at work. An argument over the device escalated, leading Hendershot to forcibly grab the victim by the neck.

According to testimony, the victim began losing consciousness during the assault. After Hendershot released her, she contacted authorities. Responding state troopers observed visible injuries, including red marks around her neck and a bloody face.

Sentencing is set for September 9. Hendershot remains in custody due to previous violations of a no-contact bail condition.

“Violence against a partner or significant other is not only a breach of the trust that exists between two people, physical abuse of another person is a crime,” said Attorney General Sunday. “I admire the victim for having the courage to testify against her abuser, and commend the jurors for reaching a just verdict that holds this defendant accountable for despicable actions.”

The case was referred to the Office of Attorney General by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Julia Van Leeuwen and Senior Deputy Attorney General Jaime Keating.
