WILMINGTON, DE — A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with a January shooting at the Paladin Club Apartments that left a 15-year-old girl wounded, according to New Castle County Police.
Officers responded at approximately 9:16 p.m. January 12 to the 8600 block of Park Court for a report of a shooting in progress.
Police stated that an altercation occurred outside the apartment complex, during which gunfire struck a 15-year-old female in the lower body. Responding officers rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The teen was transported to a local hospital, treated and later released, authorities said.
According to police, debris from the incident caused a minor injury to a 44-year-old female, who was evaluated at a hospital as a precaution and later released.
Police reported that a 16-year-old male was also in the area at the time of the altercation and fled, but was later located and found to be uninjured.
During the investigation, detectives identified a fourth suspect as 19-year-old Alexander Corona, police said.
On February 20, members of the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team located Corona on North Rodney Drive in Wilmington and took him into custody without incident, according to authorities.
Police stated that Corona is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and one count of second-degree conspiracy.
Corona was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $44,000 secured bond, police said.
Authorities noted that three other suspects were previously identified and arrested in connection with the case.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
