NEWARK, DE — Four juveniles are facing multiple charges after an alleged series of vehicle thefts and break-ins that spanned from Delaware to Pennsylvania, authorities announced.
The investigation began on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 6 a.m., when officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Stone Place in the Village of Kent Apartments for a report of a stolen Hyundai Elantra.
Before police arrived, the car’s owner was contacted by Darby Township Police in Pennsylvania, who informed her of the vehicle’s involvement in an incident in their jurisdiction. Only then did the victim realize the car had been stolen.
While police were on-site investigating the report, a second victim reported that her Nissan Altima had been broken into. Personal property, including credit cards, had allegedly been taken and subsequently used at businesses in Pennsylvania.
Early that morning, at approximately 4 a.m., Darby Township Police responded to reports of juveniles breaking into vehicles. Their investigation led to the arrests of two juveniles inside the stolen Hyundai Elantra. A third suspect attempted to flee but was quickly taken into custody.
The apprehended suspects were identified as a 15-year-old male from Wilmington, a 16-year-old female from Newark, and a 15-year-old female from Wilmington. Later, a fourth individual, a 16-year-old female from Wilmington, reportedly arrived at the scene in another stolen vehicle from the City of Wilmington, allegedly in search of the other suspects. She was arrested and found to be in possession of the stolen credit cards from the Nissan Altima.
Further investigation linked all four individuals to the incidents at the Village of Kent Apartments.
All four suspects turned themselves in at New Castle County Police Headquarters, where they were charged with the following offenses:
- Two felony counts of second-degree conspiracy
- One felony count of theft of a motor vehicle
- One felony count of attempted theft of a motor vehicle
- Two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief under $1,000
- One misdemeanor count of third-degree conspiracy
- One misdemeanor count of theft under $1,500
The juveniles were arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $4,000 unsecured bail.
Authorities remind the public that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates may follow as the case develops.
